Australian Infectious Diseases Research Centre

The Australian Infectious Diseases Research Centre is a multidisciplinary network based at The University of Queensland and the Queensland Institute for Medical Research. Established in 2011, it utilizes leading technologies to identify, understand and prevent infectious disease.

ANSTO

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is the home of Australia’s nuclear science expertise. This unique expertise is applied to radiopharmaceutical production and research, climate change research, water resource management, materials engineering, neutron scattering and a range of other scientific research disciplines. ANSTO is a Federal Government agency and operates Australia’s only nuclear reactor OPAL - used for research and isotope production. ANSTO applies nuclear science in a wide range of areas for the benefit of all Australians.

Caring for our Country

Caring for our Country, an Australian Government initiative, aims to achieve an environment that is healthier, better protected, well-managed, resilient and provides essential ecosystem services in a changing climate. Over the next five years, more than $700 million is being invested in the Caring for our Country Sustainable Agriculture stream, with innovation in Australian agriculture and fisheries practices a key focus of the initiative, ensuring our agricultural base is sustainable, productive and resilient. The Sustainable Agriculture stream is being delivered by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, in the context of other major government policies and initiatives including the National Food Plan and the Carbon Farming Initiative.

CSIRO

Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO carries out scientific research in areas including energy, the environment, information technology, health, mining, manufacturing, agriculture and natural resources. Their aim is to create impact by addressing the nation’s big challenges through: innovative technologies to improve industry competitiveness; technologies to create new markets for Australian industry; integrated solutions, information and research; and knowledge-based services to governments and business.

Defence Science and Technology Organisation

The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is part of Australia's Department of Defence. DSTO is the Australian Government's lead agency responsible for safeguarding Australia by delivering expert, impartial science and technology advice and innovative solutions for Defence and national security.

Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education

The Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIICCSRTE) strives as a key priority to encourage the sustainable growth of Australian industries by developing a national innovation system that drives knowledge creation, international competitiveness and greater productivity. The Inspiring Australia program provides Australian Government funding towards a national strategy for engaging with the sciences, which aims to build a strong, open relationship between science and society, underpinned by effective communication of science and its benefits.
