The Face of the Future



‘These composite images reflect the Australian population in 2050, according to projections by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Fifty male and fifty female portraits were chosen to represent the proportion of the population at different ages, and according to ancestry. By 2050, twenty-five percent of the population will be 65 years and over compared to twelve percent in 1997. Sixty-two percent of the population will be Anglo Celtic, 16 percent South-East Asian, 15 percent Southern and Eastern European, four percent Middle Eastern, and two percent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.’
